暑假里,妈妈为我买的几本世界名著,而我最喜欢的便是这本《简爱》了。

这本书主要讲了出身贫寒的孤儿简爱,从小就寄养在舅母里德夫人家中,受尽百般欺凌后来进了慈善学校,灵魂和肉体又都经受了苦痛的折磨,可她并没有自暴自弃,而是以顽强的意志力完成了学业,并且成绩还很优秀。为了追求独立的生活,她应聘做了家庭教师。由于志趣相投,她和男主人公真诚相爱,在经历磨难后,终于走到了一起。与其说这是夏洛蒂*勃朗特的代表作,更不如说这是夏洛蒂*勃朗特的一本自传。

夏洛蒂出生在英国北部的一个牧师家庭。老勃朗特共有六个子女,夏洛蒂排名老三,上有两个姐姐,下有两个妹妹和一个弟弟。由于老勃朗特早年丧妻,他便把自己卓越的才智和全部的爱都倾注在了孩子们身上。

大家都知道简爱是一篇小说,小说中的主人公简自小失去了爸爸妈妈,后来被寄养在舅舅家。舅舅去世后,简受尽了母的歧视和虐待,后来被舅母送到一所半慈善性质的小学校生活。但是简却凭着不服输,她却敢于与命运做抗争。在这种情况下成长起来的简虽然一贫如洗,地位卑微,相貌平平,但她不论在什么样的境遇下都自尊自爱,勇敢地追求平等和幸福。不论是简在盖茨黑德府与舅母一家人做对抗,又或者是她与罗切斯特先生一波三折的爱情故事,都体现了简追求尊严与爱这一主题,但是不论自己在别人眼里多卑微,她始终相信自己与别人是平等的;她珍视自己的灵魂,渴望平等的爱情。

我读完了全部,心里若有所思,一个平凡的女子居然有这种伟大地想法,小说的作者夏洛蒂也和主人公都具有这种精神,她们都承受过打击,也受到过嘲讽,更有过失败,但是她们都独立。作者在没有出名时,收到过骚塞的一封浸透冷酷和偏见的信,信中暗喻:女子勇不可能和男子相提并论。但是夏洛蒂承受住这个打击,后来她终于打破的传统的观念和陈腐的偏见。

主人公简爱的独特个性和思想,爱是一个不美的,矮小的女人,但她有顽强的自尊心。在打动身为贵族的男主人公的同时,也紧紧抓住了我们读者的心。简爱说过这样的一段话,给我的印象很深,也很能体现她的性格。她说:如果大家老是对残酷,不公道的人百依百顺,那么那些坏家伙就更要任性胡来了,他们会什么也不惧怕,这样也就永远也不会改好,反而越来越坏,当我们无缘无故挨了打,我们一定要狠狠地回击。我很赞成简的这种说法,因为自尊、自重是做人的最起码的要求。

我认为罗切斯特先生,正是她生活中的阳光。他们两人的交往是愉快的;他们两人的对话又是耐人寻味的。因为他们各自的性格特点都在那简短的对话中表现得淋漓尽致。简爱的丈夫,也就是此小说的男主人公罗切斯特先生是一个正直、善恶分明而又带有幽默感的人。他们两人真心相爱了。然而在他们的婚礼上,梅森先生揭露了罗切斯特先生是个有妻之夫的秘密后,简彻底失望了,她怀着万分悲痛的心情离开了他。然而他们最终又走到了一起。我很高兴他们最后是在一起的,当我读到简离开了罗切斯特先生时,我万分难过。

《简爱》这本书能够照出我们身上的不足,让我们找到正确的人生方向,把曾经失去的东西找回来。让我们有信心、有勇气去面对困难,并且战胜困难,为我们的人生添上绚丽的一笔。
